I hope everyone enjoyed last week’s Murfday celebration. An unexpected and very fun tribute to the man, the myth, the Murf. And The Shondes caused the first ever spontaneous mosh pit among the TCGS studio audience. Not bad!
This week, our show is designed to show off one of the new things we’re doing with the show, as we’ve got some big announcements coming about the entirety of our TCGS web presence. There will be further info to follow on all of this, but here are some of the things we’re debuting this week. This is me letting the cat out of the bag!
A redesigned http://www.thechrisgethardshow.com is rolling out in the next day or so (thanks to Darren Miller and Daniel Spenser for all their hard work on this)
Our show’s main page, Tumblr, YouTube page, streaming page, etc are all connected and redesigned and united with a graphics package (thanks to friend of show Clif Henning for his help with this, and Daniel Spenser for killing it on the main site)
We will be delivering a new YouTube video related to the show every single weekday. This is big for us and we hope we can follow through.
Our live streaming system has now been upgraded. I’ve decided to put some money into it. It will now be ad free, and hopefully with the support money brings we can improve the live experience more than we have before. We can’t trump the sometimes faulty internet connections at MNN, but we are now ad free and in a position to give you the maximum experience we can with the technology available to us.
Now this week’s show in particular is aimed at embracing one of my favorite aspects of our web re-design, the fact that we now have a message board for cast, crew, friends, and viewers of the show to interact at. This is a huge development in my eyes. There aren’t a million people watching the show, but the people who do know about it opt into a community in a way that’s really pronounced and strong. This message board is a place where that community can gather and interact directly.
You can find the message board at http://www.thechrisgethardshow.com/message-board
People are already using it and it’s a lot of fun. It’s cool to meet people who watch the show and hear how they found it. Most importantly, you will find there two threads asking you to submit Truths and Dares to this week’s show. During the broadcast of this week’s episode, we’re going to give all of our cast and crew members random numbers. Callers will call up and pick a number and whomever holds that number will participate in a game of truth or dare. All of the truths and dares put in the buckets will be ones that you guys added to those threads on our message board.
So please, please, please – go sign up for the message board, throw some truths and some dares in, and maybe you’ll see your contribution show up on this week’s episode.
On top of this viewer driven anything goes madness, we’re psyched to welcome our guests The Shivering Brigade. As a guy who grew up loving punk rock, I can say that there’s a certain quality of owning it and not giving a fuck and just going for it that makes me love all the punk rock that I love. And you can feel all those attitudes bleeding through everything you find online by The Shivering Brigade. I can’t wait to see the vibe they bring to the studio. This week’s game is already lending itself to some chaos, and I have a feeling The Shivering Brigade are the perfect band to push that over the top into a truly psychotic place.
Call us at 212-757-1393 during the show! We’ll need your help to put this into action!
And if you’re in NYC and want to attend the show live, email [email protected] – I hear that we’re already on the verge of being sold out, so get that ticket request in today.
