I'm a student, but during the summer I work with Parks Canada as a gate attendant. This means that over the last summer I spent eight hours a day sitting here (http://gyazo.com/f4f8f00f4bee7b27674d1fc6a26ff623), reading, watching the ducks, and making puppets out of my lunch bags.

That sounds like my dream-job ! (except for the puppet-making part, but I can do something else instead of that I would think)

I work for the Chicago Parks District with special needs kids (I actually enjoy them, though, unlike Kristen in Boston). I essentially teach special needs kids how to play sports and goddamn if I don't love it. Those kids are the best.

Actually, the Chicago Public School teachers just decided to go on strike and my park is a contingency site for Special Ed programs, which means I'll be working 5 13-hour days a week until the teachers are back in the classroom. So, essentially, life will be super hectic for a while starting tomorrow.

Wow, you sound amazing. I'm glad you found a job that you love that also really helps people. Good luck with the extra hours!

Thank you very, very much!! While I do like to think I'm amazing, I don't know how much my job really has to do with that. I honestly do love those kids, so that makes it pretty easy for me to do, in all honesty.

And the extra hours started today! Shit's already hectic, but I'mma get through it!

Oh boy... I do data entry at a bankruptcy law firm. It's so repetitive and boring, that occasionally I forget it's a real job that does actual things. It feels like a really lame high school computer exercise that I have to do for 8 hours every day...

BUT, I get to wear headphones while I do it. Podcasts/Musicx1000!

I just finished up an internship where I was essentially working as a floor director at a local news station in Houston. I also just finished college. But now I'm just working as a waitress at a dinner movie theatre, but I guess I should be getting a big girl job instead of picking hot wing bones out of polyester carpet late into the night. I did two internships in NYC last fall-- a news show and a documentary production company. And while I do want to work in film or television production, I'd rather work on something more creative-leaning than what I've done. Currently trying to move back to New York within the year and get a production assistant job or something along those lines.

I'm a graphic designer for a higher-end letterpress invitation/stationery printing company. Soon my first original wedding invite designs will go on sale, which is something I never thought I'd say.

I still have a weird dream of working in the entertainment industry. I worked on a comedy tv show in college and that was one of the funnest things I've done. I'd love to do anything on any tv show. (Need a camera gal, TCGS?)

@andreastreeter ยท graphics & such

I'm trying to be a full time textile conservator, but happily settling for part time work with a museum and a textile lab. I get to stabilize old textiles and clothing so that they exist for longer and can be better displayed, so some cleaning, some stitching, lots of vacuuming. Pretty much the weirder the stain the happier I am; I got to work on a huge rug that was covered in old dog pee and it was the best time. I'm also trying to figure out how to get shellac out of a rug. It's really satisfying being able to work with my hands and preserve history for even just a little big longer.

This is one of the coolest jobs I've ever heard of. I love that there are so many jobs out there we would never even think might exist, but are actually really neat.

That definitely wins the Job I Never Expected Prize.

Yeah, that textile job sounds really cool!

I don't know how to get/keep a real job so I'm a grad student (ugh) and freelance writer for AV Club and some other sites.
